To COP29 President and All Respectfull Members
"To COP29 President and All Respectfull Members”
I am writing to bring attention to the dire situation in my homeland, South Azerbaijan, due to the destructive policies of the Iranian government. Their actions are deliberately aimed at transforming our fertile lands into deserts, displacing the indigenous Turkic people and exploiting our resources for Persian interests.
The devastating consequences include the destruction of Urmiya Lake, deforestation, and degradation of mountains and rivers. I urge international organizations to intervene and demand that Iran cease its destructive practices in South Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, over 75% of Iran's population lacks control over their homeland's resources, renewable energy, economy, culture, and education in their native languages. The Turkic nations, in particular, are denied basic rights, including education in their mother tongue.
I warn that the Iranian government's policies will lead to catastrophic consequences and bloodshed in the near future. As an internationally recognized South Azerbaijani journalist and political analyst living in Toronto, Canada, I implore the international community to take immediate action.
Sincerely,
